Icarus Retold & The Memoirs We Wrote

One of my childhood literary memories is the story of Icarus. The boy who was given the means to fly but in his ambition and excitement, flew too close to the sun and met his demise. Unfortunately this story seems to echo through a lifetime. A constant reminder to embrace limitations and not chase the ambition that is vanity in disguise.

This artistic memoir however is a more truthful take. There is life past our failures and what the Sun exposes and all that melts away is truly not the death of what was hoped for but the beginning to a more perfect way. A way of dropping every hindrance, and a rebirth of vows we made. It is well within our victory to hold fast and still even when we begin to feel the ache for strength.  

So that is the story of Icarus, or at least the way that I find myself and us. It is good to take a moment of reflection. To stop and consider the reasons we fall and the reason we get back up. Thank you for joining me on this creative exploration.
